FED:Hunger strike continues at Curtin
PERTH, April 26 AAP - Asylum seekers continue to hunger strike at Western Australia's
Curtin Immigration Detention Centre, but officials and refugee supporters differ over
numbers involved.
A peaceful protest at the Kimberley facility continued on Tuesday as Immigration Minister
Chris Bowen announced government plans to toughen laws to deter violent behaviour at detention
centres.
The proposed changes would mean anyone convicted of criminal conduct while in immigration
detention would automatically be denied a protection visa under character test rules.
The move follows riots and the burning of accommodation tents at the Christmas Island
detention centre in March and recent riots at Villawood in Sydney, where detainees burned
down buildings.
An immigration spokeswoman said on Tuesday that 12 detainees at Curtin had advised
staff they were on "voluntary starvation", as part of a peaceful protest that started
at the centre on Saturday.
"Beyond that there have been some detainees who have skipped meals over the past couple of days.
"But that's not necessarily unusual and snack food is available to them," she said.
Around 80 mainly Afghan detainees were on Tuesday engaged in a peaceful protest at
the centre but numbers fluctuated, the spokeswoman said.
On Monday, around 20 protesting detainees required minor treatment at the facility's
medical centre after being out in the heat.
Refugee Action Coalition spokesman Ian Rintoul, who has been protesting with refugee
supporters outside the centre, said on Tuesday that 109 detainees were on full hunger
strike.
He said up to 500 people did not report for breakfast on Tuesday morning, in a continuing
protest over delays in processing asylum claims.
Mr Rintoul said some asylum seekers at the centre had been waiting over 20 months for
ASIO security clearances, after being told they had been granted refugee status.
"Chris Bowen's draconian laws will not stop the protests," he said.
"Chris Bowen needs to address the underlying problems of lives being devastated by
mandatory detention," Mr Rintoul said.
In a protest outside the Curtin centre on Monday, refugee supporters knocked down a
temporary fence after learning they had been refused permission for a delegation to meet
asylum seekers.
On Sunday, 15 protesters outside the centre were issued with move-on notices by police
after obstructing a road near the centre.

NT:Six detainees hospitalised, 11 arrested= 2
Late Thursday afternoon a disturbance at the same centre involving several detainees
led to unrest between other detainees, the spokesman said.
One asylum seeker was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The spokesman confirmed about 20 detainees started protest action just outside the perimeter.
He said police and staff engaged the group, brought the situation under control quickly
and returned the detainees to the facility.
Photographs published by the Northern Territory News show police wearing riot gear.
The NT News is reporting that four young men were bashed as tensions between ethnic
groups flared.
The detainees told the News Ltd paper they were mentally exhausted after being locked
up for two years.
The Immigration spokesman told AAP the first of the "small altercations" occurred on
Wednesday afternoon and that a number of detainees were treated at the scene for minor
cuts and bruises.
The detention centre's service provider Serco will investigate and report back to the
Immigration Department.

FED:Toddler tried to escape sex attack
EDS: Please note graphic content throughout
By Andrew Drummond
SYDNEY, Aug 27 AAP - The 14-month-old girl had an inkling of the imminent sexual attack on her.
She tried desperately to crawl away from the man, but was grabbed by the legs and dragged
across the bed so that the vile assault could begin, a Sydney court has been told.
She screamed and struggled in vain as her nappy was ripped off...
The toddler was one of eight victims molested by David Shane Whitby, who in July was
found guilty of 120 child sex offences.
He assaulted children over a 10-year period, photographing and filming the acts.
Another of Whitby's victims rushed crying from Sydney's Downing Centre District Court
during sentencing submissions on Friday, as details of his attack on the toddler were
read out by Crown prosecutor Mark Tedeschi.
During the trial, which was heard without a jury, Judge Peter Berman viewed the videos
and photographs made by Whitby.
One of those videos showed the attack of the baby girl.
"The child sees the offender approaching her, she exhibits extreme fear ... she obviously
had some inkling of what was about to happen. He grabs her by the legs, pulls her towards
him and commits the offences," Mr Tedeschi said in court on Friday.
Whitby sat in the dock of the court, occasionally shaking his head as the details were read.
He claimed during the trial that he was not the offender. The offender was a man he
used to know but with whom he no longer had any contact, he said.
In some videos, Whitby wears items including a pink fairy outfit, a black mask, a black
body suit, black high heels or a suspender belt and stockings - as do some of his victims.
A sign on the door of the court warned people of the graphic nature of the case.
Details of the assault on the toddler were harrowingly graphic.
"Screams and struggles are heard from the child ... that would send chills down the
spine of any reasonable person," Mr Tedeschi said of the video.
"This toddler did all that she could to get away from the offender in a vain attempt
to avoid the offending behaviour.
"The offender's only motivation ... is to obtain sexual gratification from his conduct
with a very young child."
Judge Berman asked if this was the attack that ended with Whitby ejaculating on the
child's torso, to which Mr Tedeschi replied: "Yes, after attempting to ejaculate in the
child's mouth".
Earlier on Friday, another of Whitby's victims - now an adult mother of three - said
that being forced to relive the details during the prosecution case had "ruined her life".
"I feel like I'm worthless as a mother now because I'm so consumed about what happened
to me I can't look after my kids. I don't cope with daily life at all," said the tearful
woman, who can't be identified.
Her brother was raped and assaulted by Whitby - charges involving the boy totalling 91.
Mr Tedeschi said Whitby sexually conditioned his victims and that the assaults would
sometimes take place while the children were watching television or talking on the phone.
"The offender committed the acts for his own immediate gratification and also for the
purposes of recording the acts for his later sexual titillation," Mr Tedeschi said.
The sentencing submissions continue.

Fed: Coalition policy will cost enormously less than Labor scheme
CANBERRA, Dec 7 AAP - Tony Abbott has refused to comment on reports his treasury spokesman
had estimated the cost of the new opposition leader's climate policy at more than $50
billion.
Mr Abbott has not denied a "tense" discussion took place between himself and Joe Hockey
in shadow cabinet about climate policy during the coalition's recent internal ructions.
"The last thing I would do is attribute emotion into those discussions," Mr Abbott
told ABC Radio on Monday.
The cost of any new coalition climate policy would depend on what was agreed by the
party room, but it would be less than Labor's $120 billion carbon pollution reduction
scheme.
"I'm confident that we can achieve, well and truly, mandatory (emission) targets for
an enormous amount less than that," Mr Abbott said.
The opposition leader is not holding much prospect for a significant agreement at the
UN climate summit in Copenhagen, which begins on Monday.
"I don't think there are going to be too many concrete commitments other than those
that have already been given."

Farmers say all pork in Australia is safe to eat .. and there's no risk from swine flu.
Victorian Farmers Federation pig group president AEGER KINGMA says the Australian pork
industry has a worlds-best health herd status.
He says swine flu's a human health issue .. not an animal health or food safety issue.
Mr KINGMA says tough biosecurity procedures are in place to protect the health and
well being of animals .. and imported pork undergoes rigorous importation protocols.
The World Organisation for Animal Health has recommended a more appropriate name for
the virus would be "North-American influenza".

FED: Schools invited to be part of education revolution
CANBERRA, Dec 7 AAP - Schools will be invited to apply for up to $1 million each to
buy computer and technology equipment for students and classrooms.
Federal cabinet yesterday signed off on the first stage of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's
education revolution - giving every student in Years Nine to 12 access to their own computer
at school.
The total package, worth $1 billion, will be split among schools which will be able
to apply for funding for technological resources from March next year.
Mr Rudd says schools will be able to spend the money on computers, interactive whiteboards,
broadband connections, digital projectors and other equipment.
He says the government will conduct an audit of each school's computer resources and
broadband access.
Those identified as most in need of new equipment will be given top priority when the
first $100 million from the fund is distributed from March.
Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard says the government will need to boost teacher
training to ensure those in the profession and those currently in training are equipped
to use computers as a classroom teaching aid.

Qld: Police search for three jail escapees
BRISBANE, Dec 22 AAP - Three prisoners have escaped from a jail in south-east Queensland.
Police today said the men, aged 19, 21 and 27, last night absconded from the Darling
Downs Correctional Centre in Toowoomba.
"The alarm was raised when staff observed movement on one of the exterior fences,"
a police spokeswoman said.
While the trio was not considered dangerous, police urged members of the public not
to approach the escapees.
Police said the three men were in custody for a range of property-related crimes.
All three are described as being 175cm tall.
Two, aged 27 and 21, are of thin build. The older man had a dark complexion while the
other man had a tanned complexion.
The third offender, aged 19, is of fair complexion with ginger coloured hair.
They were all wearing civilian clothing, the spokeswoman said.

SA: Petrol prices to drop says RAA
ADELAIDE, Aug 16 AAP - Petrol prices should drop next week to their lowest level in
almost two months, South Australia's Royal Automobile Association (RAA) says.
The RAA said pump prices should go as low as $1.28 a litre, reflecting a recent fall
in prices in Singapore.
"While the value of a barrel of crude oil remains high, motorists and those making
media comment need to understand that it is not the sole factor affecting what we pay
at the pump," RAA senior analyst Hamilton Calder said.
"Australian oil refineries compete within the Asian region, where the price out of
Singapore is used as a benchmark.
"Any change to the Singapore parity price typically takes one or two weeks to flow
through to the Australian market, a fact which Australia's major oil companies openly
admit to."
In the past eight days, the Singapore parity price has dropped considerably from about
$117 a barrel of unleaded petrol to below $107, its lowest level since mid-June.
"If oil companies are operating as they say they do, motorists should actually be seeing
prices at their lowest level in two months," Mr Calder said.
"Any price movement otherwise should be seen by motorists as blatant profiteering by
the industry and deliberate exploitation of an already vulnerable consumer market."

Saving the Earth, One Click at a Time.(eco-friendly goods sold online)(Statistical Data Included)
Thanks to the Internet, even fair-weather friends of the environment can make a difference.
Today, helping to save the planet may be as easy as buying a sweater at J.Crew or a Madonna CD from Amazon.com.
At Care2.com, an e-commerce site devoted to all things environmental, 10 percent of revenues is donated to nonprofits, like Environmental Defense and the National Wildlife Federation, without any additional financial obligation to the consumer. Visitors to Care2 can buy eco-friendly goods from "green" merchants such as RealGoods.com at the site's Eco-Shop, as well as mainstream products from retailers like Gap.com. They can also generate donations by e-mailing friends, sending greeting cards, and using search engines to find information on green issues. Retail sponsors - who pay for banner ads on the site and on e-mails - pick up the bill, with hopes that some of Care2's young,
educated, wealthy, brand-aware visitors return to them as loyal customers. So far, the 2-year-old venture has raised almost $400,000 for green charities, and has 1.5 million registered users.
Who says environmentalism and consumerism can't co-exist? The fact that 98 million shoppers are expected to spend $105 billion online by 2003, according to eMarketer, is convincing some merchants, nonprofits, and consumers alike to at least concede the possibility that good could arise from sleeping with the enemy. The Internet has armed the busy, yet environmentally-conscious consumer - known by some as "light greens" or "greenback greens" - with a new method of environmental activism: shopping. Whether they buy from the expanding number of dot-coms specializing in enviro-friendly products, or frequent mainstream merchants through charity mall sites that donate a portion of sales to green causes, e-commerce is expanding the opportunity to "do the right thing" for Mother Earth. And for marketers trying to achieve consumer loyalty and retention, the Internet has provided a better way to target these customers. Says Jacquelyn Ottman, president of J. Ottman Consulting in New York City and author of Green Marketing: Opportunity for Innovation: "I wouldn't be surprised if we were able to broaden the base of green shoppers because the Internet is making it easier for them to get involved."
Eighty-seven percent of Americans say they are "concerned" about the environment, according to Environmental Research Associates (ERA) in Princeton, New Jersey. It is somewhere within this large group that the light green consumers can be found. Market research firm Roper Starch's 2000 Green Gauge Report defines them as greenback greens because they are more likely to open their pocketbooks than their day planners to save the Earth. While 59 percent of these consumers donate to environmental causes, and 90 percent buy products made from, or packaged in, recycled materials at least occasionally, just 6 percent regularly roll up their sleeves to volunteer.
Demographically, the light green consumer segment is very attractive to marketers. They are relatively young, with a mean age of 39. They are smart: 69 percent either have some college or are college grads, and 54 percent are executives/professionals or hold white-collar jobs. Thirty-eight percent have household incomes over $50,000 and 22 percent over $75,000. They are also Internet savvy - 67 percent have a PC, and 72 percent have gone online in the last month. This group is also predominantly female (62 percent), a plus for marketers, since women traditionally make the majority of household purchases, both online and off.
Lisa Bohne, 26, has been a self-described light green consumer for about five years. She recycles, takes her own bags to the supermarket, and buys organic produce and aluminum toothpaste tubes. But she doesn't classify herself as an activist and isn't quite ready to trade in her Gap jeans for hemp ones. While she's used the Internet to find general environmental information, she was unaware that green product merchants or charity malls existed on the Web. "Are there green books? Green Gap jeans?" she asks. "I'd love it if there were, and I would definitely buy them, even if the price was a little higher. Buying green is a personal value of mine, and I will pay to support that value."
Such sentiments from light green consumers are the driving force behind a slew of new e-commerce models giving marketers access to this group, while offering consumers easier ways to make a difference. Online charity malls like GreaterGood.com, ShopForChange.com, and iGive.com, allow customers to buy goods and have a small percentage of their purchase go to a philanthropy of their choice, green or otherwise. Then there are click-to-donate sites, like The Rainforest Site (www.therainforestsite.com), where clicking on a button automatically sends a donation to The Nature Conservancy, courtesy of merchants who pay for banner ads on the site. Other mall-like properties, such as EthicalShopper.com, GreenHome.com, and EcoMall.com, offer environmentally-friendly products, from chamomile shampoo to non-chlorine bleach. Also sprouting up are individual vendors, like DolphinBlue.com, which sells recycled paper and office supplies, and EcoBaby.com, which sells enviro-safe baby products.
"No one wants to be consciously irresponsible," says Rachel Prishkolnik, CEO of EthicalShopper.com. "The Internet is just making it easier for those who might not normally go out of their way to buy responsible products to find them. It's like if you walked into a store and saw two piles of similar clothes and one had a sign that said `sweatshop free' and the other didn't. Once people realize we're here and have products that are price-comparative, it becomes a natural choice."
There is certainly a growth in online green merchants trying to get the word out. While there is no good measure for the number of sites selling enviro-friendly goods, a quick search on Google for "green products" retrieves 8,500 hits. As for e-philanthropy, 2000 alone saw the launch of more than 140 Web sites founded specifically on the principle of giving to social causes, according to Boston-based cause-related marketing firm Cone, Inc.
"The [charity mall] model flips cause-marketing on its head," says Carrie Suhr, director of cause development for iGive.com. Traditionally, companies have had to guess about the one cause their shoppers care about, and then work that into their marketing, she explains. "But when you allow the individual to choose his charity, you are essentially connecting your brand with the cause the consumer cares about most." In a Cone study conducted prior to the holiday shopping season, 58 percent (up 14 percent from 1997) said they planned to purchase a product that had a percentage of its price donated to a cause.
Since discovering iGive.com last year, 32-year-old Jodi Hoatson, from North Providence, Rhode Island, has forsaken all offline shopping except for incidentals and has convinced her family members to do the same. She's even warned her boyfriend that if he buys her flowers, he'd better do it on iGive.com. "If retailers are willing to put up the donation money, I want to frequent them. Companies can give back and should give back. If they don't, they'll lose my business. There are other things besides price that I'm thinking about when I shop." She found iGive.com while working 80-hour weeks as a public relations executive. With no time to shop and even less time to volunteer, she was thrilled to find a way she could contribute by "selfishly shopping for myself." Hoatson's chosen charity, Hearts United for Animals, an animal rescue organization in her home state of Nebraska, raised more than $3,500 last year from iGive.com shoppers. In its four-year history, iGive.com has raised an estimated $1 million for charities nationwide.
Before going online, Catherine Fenner, a 48-year-old writer from Golden, Colorado, who has been buying green for 14 years, had trouble finding certain items within her somewhat conservative community. But now she has much broader access to information about corporations' environmental records and to a wider range of eco-friendly products. Her favorite site is Pangea's Veganstore.com. "Where else can I find non-leather, non-sweatshop shoes that I can wear to a Fortune 500 holiday party?" she says. "It's so nice shopping there knowing that I don't have to check ingredients or worry about the poor child who skipped school to glue shoes together."
Stumping for a cause may actually make good marketing sense. Eighty-three percent of consumers say they have a more positive image of a company that supports a cause they care about, according to Cone. And for the last seven years, since the firm has been keeping track, the environment has remained one of the top three concerns that consumers say they most want businesses to bear in mind. Eighty-four percent say they are likely to consider a company's reputation for supporting causes when making purchases.
These are trends that companies like Etera, Inc. (www.etera.com) are cashing in on. Of the gardening retailer's 5000 affiliates, GreaterGood.com generates the second most traffic, and iGive.com comes in 12th, according to Wade Tonkin, affiliate marketing director. One two-week e-mail promotion on GreaterGood.com in June generated 1,300 orders - one of the highest response rates the 2-year-old charity mall has had. Another month-long sponsorship in September on The Rainforest Site, which is also run by GreaterGood.com, generated about 15,000 click-throughs, and about $7,000 in sales, not to mention access to a database full of e-mail addresses for potential repeat customers. "Customer loyalty is very valuable on the Web, and very difficult to get. Anything you can do to differentiate yourself online is very important," says Tonkin. "If you build your brand and get people to associate a good cause with your name, it makes a big difference." Etera, Inc. is not the only business to think so. According to Chicago-based International Events Group (IEG), cause-related marketing by companies has increased 504 percent since 1990, to an estimated $630 million in 1999.
But marketers be warned: light green consumers are not easily fooled. For companies who spread themselves too thin or aren't fully committed to a specific cause, the tactic can backfire. "Cause marketing online only works if the company has already established itself as having an ongoing commitment to an issue," says Alison DaSilva, vice president of Cone. "Otherwise, to consumers, it's simply another banner ad." Fenner, for one, usually gives new companies a test by ordering something small to investigate their packaging and shipping methods. If, for example, the package arrives with an inordinate amount of bubble wrap in an unnecessarily oversized box, the company has failed.
Nevin Cohen, senior analyst at New York City-based research firm eMarketer, questions the true impact of the click-to-donate and charity mall models, since they may inhibit people from taking more concrete actions, like volunteering or changing their consumption behaviors. As for green consumerism, the jury's still out. Die-hard environmentalists - about 10 percent of the population - will always be looking for enviro-friendly products and the Internet is certainly helping those consumers to find them, says Cohen. But to expand interest to the mainstream, comparison shopping has to become easier. The development of green shopping "bots" - search engines that compare products' environmental efficiency and ingredients across various retailers - will be key. Such sites do not yet exist for consumers, although at least one, GreenOrder.com, is making strides in the business-to-business sector. Since about 85 percent of all e-commerce transactions today are b-to-b, the greening of government facilities and corporations needs to come first, says Cohen. Once green shopping bots become used regularly by these agencies, he predicts "some smart entrepreneur" will create them for the consumer marketplace.
The demand for green products and services is likely to increase within the next 15 to 25 years, say experts, as the 71 million members of Generation Y - born between 1977 and 1994 - grow into positions of power as heads of both households and businesses. They are the first entire generation to have been taught in school about the consequence of human actions on the planet's vitality, says Lois Kaufman, co-founder of ERA. In fact, almost 100 percent of kids today have had some form of environmental education in school, compared with 19 percent of all adults. Says Kaufman: "Our studies have shown that these younger adults, who will be the buyers of tomorrow, are much more willing to spend money for environmental products than their parents were."
Teens are likely to use the Internet to make those purchases. By 2003, 51 percent of the teen population, almost 7 million wired 14- to 17-year-olds, will be shopping online, projects eMarketer. And 49 percent of all teens say they plan to buy products online that support causes, according to Cone. Thirty-seven percent plan to use the Internet to find volunteer opportunities and 71 percent expect to use it to learn about causes. The Internet offers marketers a perfect opportunity to influence these conscious consumers: 89 percent of teens say they are likely to switch brands to those associated with a good cause - a 62 percent increase from 1999, reveals Cone.
So, while it still isn't easy being green, the Internet is at least making it less difficult. "Online, nobody feels threatened that they are not green enough," says Marlin Miller, Chief Operating Officer at Care2.com. "For expanding the interest in environmental issues overall, that's very important."

Feedsto Announces Global Launch.
(PRWEB) June 09, 2011
In 2008, Efemena Timbo had an idea, and came up with mykrl.com, "a streamer of news events". Users had great difficulty grasping the innovative idea. Efemena became discouraged, and decided to shutdown the site. In February 2011, Efemena relaunched the website with a different name after shutting it down for months. The website started generating about a 100 views a day among friends.
The versatile website is called Feedsto.com
Feedsto users will experience fresh local news content, gadgets, email alerts, social capability, personalization, free deals and many other features. Feedsto has features that suggest articles relating to the original post or attains articles relating to the users browsing habits. Feedsto isn't just a regular website, the site prices 0.00 on all products in their shopping zone in the "free deals" section of the site.
Efemena says, "users are rewarded for their online participation, and engagement on the site. Feedsto is the first website in the world that rewards users, instead of pocketing funds. Power to the users."
The more users that actively participate on Feedsto every day to read, and browse will generate funds which rewards users with free stuff. Just like going to school, the more a student reads, the more likely the student will get better rewards in life. This works because of sponsor's ads, free giveaways and from Feedsto personal funds. Users can sign up for free and get great services, events, and products for free emailed to their account daily. Feedsto does not act like a sweepstakes website neither do users lose card points. Everything posted is available for free.
Traditional ways of finding free things have proven ineffective. Search engines don't guarantee first position on results for a promotion event, costly to promote things, and internet users can experience fraud. Feedsto eradicates these problems. Feedsto gives users the opportunity of getting free stuff and posting free stuff to our network. Feedsto is creating a wish list as well. The most active users will receive personal free stuff to their needs. An example would be like a school project that a Feedsto user desperately needs help financing, Feedsto will finance the project with no strings attached. Efemena believes in a "FREEWORLD" literally, not politically. Visit Feedsto.com today and explore. The website is active and already has 500+ free stuff to do.

A New Dawn for Reciva as a Change of Direction is Announced.
Cambridge, UK (PRWEB) May 05, 2011

Kids Ripe To Touch Type - Schools Need To Nail It Now To Wow Keyboarding Regulators.
To nail the growing two-finger typing epidemic in schools and enable students to not only meet, but easily exceed, today's regulatory standards and writing assessments, schools need the fast, simple, effective and low-cost Nail It Now typing method that uses manipulatives and mnemonics, rather than typing software programs that use random letter typing repetition, take too long and achieve too little.
Australia (PRWEB) August 2, 2009 -- The fast, simple, effective and low-cost Nail It Now typing method, deliverable over the internet and easily downloaded to school networks, would save School Districts thousands of dollars and hours of curriculum time, vastly improve student outcomes and not only meet, but easily exceed, keyboarding standards and writing assessments.
Instead of locking students away in drill and practice typing software programs that take too long and achieve too little, the non-software Nail It Now keyboarding method takes just two lessons to teach any child aged 5 years and over correct finger use, and is a fun class activity. There's no random letter typing repetition; this innovative method uses manipulatives and mnemonics to help students easily remember the keys.
What sets Nail It Now apart from any other keyboarding method is that it enables schools to use a vast, free resource at their fingertips. After just two lessons, students are ready to practice "proper" fingering using their "real" daily computer activities in class and at home. Students learn best when engaged in meaningful activities and students practicing in class, rather than in a typing software program, saves schools hours of precious curriculum time and costs nothing.
Every student can learn to touch type. Early elementary students play a fun game on a body-sized keyboard on the floor, taking it in turns to be "fingers" and jumping on the keyboard when their letter is called out. Higher grade teachers project colorful, self-explanatory PowerPoint slide presentation pages, in turn, onto a wall and students type in any word processing program. There's even a self-teaching PDF version for teachers and parents.
Any teacher or parent can teach and revise the method. No training or technical expertise is required. Two "key" pages--each containing 15 mnemonic association words--are all that's needed to prompt a child who forgets a key or to revise the method in a 5-minute mini session in class, at the kitchen table while a parent prepares dinner or in homes without computers.
Older students, who use the keyboard daily in class and at home, quickly become proficient at correctly typing their class projects. Younger students love playing the game and kinaesthetic, visual and auditory learners all get to learn "their way". This new learning is easily reinforced doing fun, meaningful tasks like dividing a writing class into writers and floor keyboard "typists" until students are ready to type their stories in class using "proper" fingering.
In an education world of limited resources and time constraints, schools face many demands that are hard to meet, but meeting keyboarding standards and assessments doesn't have to be one of them.
About Nail It Now Nail It Now offers a unique, innovative keyboarding method, and Microsoft Word tutorials, deliverable over the internet, that are specifically designed to be fast, fun and easy for kids, individuals, schools and businesses. Founded in 1998 by Georgie Farmer, who created all the tutorials using lateral thinking, the online business now has customers in 50 countries worldwide. For more information about the Nail It Now typing method or to pilot any of the three versions at no cost, visit www.nailitnow.com.au/typingtutorlicence/index.html.

New Tier's client relationships are built around the company's premier desktop and mobile application, which provides clients with a complete solution for direct engagement with their consumer while creating a new and quantifiable advertising revenue stream. The Desktop & Mobile Alert Application acts as a condensed version of a client's website without cannibalizing the content. Content is pushed into the application through RSS and custom XML feeds that are generally provided from the client's website. Its alerting capabilities and efficient make-up allow for the consumer to be guided through the website content at a much greater level of depth. The consumer makes the choice to download the desktop or mobile application, therefore deeming its content and alerts as desired information by the user.
"The quality of Unicorn's capabilities are second-to-none in the industry," says Alicia Nevins, Chief Development Officer for New Tier. "A major benefit to the consumer with regards to New Tier's premier product, The Desktop & Mobile Alert Application, is its efficiency and small footprint. Unicorn has found a way to mirror this benefit with their streaming video component while maintaining exceptional picture integrity."
"Our video distribution system was designed with companies like New Tier in mind: the future of Internet video goes far beyond the browser. New Tier's innovative approach to feature rich/minimum-footprint applications couldn't be more aligned with our goal of delivering broadcast quality media experiences everywhere that the Internet reaches. We're very excited to be able to continue to demonstrate the flexibility and efficiency of our platform by enabling New Tier and their customers to reach consumers directly with these rich experiences," says AJ McGowan, Unicorn Media's Chief Technology Officer.

VALUEOPTIONS TO HIRE 170 TO MANAGE HEALTH CARE.(Main)
Byline: DIANA HEIL
ValueOptions is expected to win a $300 million to $350 million contract by early next week to manage behavioral health care in New Mexico.
A group of state agencies overseeing the selection process decided at a meeting Thursday to accept the contract after minor changes, mostly grammatical, are made. "It's not official yet, but it could be by Monday," state Human Services spokeswoman Betina Gonzales McCracken said.
ValueOptions, a Virginia-based company, will coordinate Medicaid services for substance abuse, depression and psychiatric illness. Starting July 1, it would be in charge of hundreds of programs now run by 10 state departments.
ValueOptions of New Mexico, as it is called here, plans to hire more than 170 people, according to the company's Internet advertisement.
The for-profit company also is seeking an American Indian employee to direct the Native American Regional Office in Santa Fe and an employee with experience in business operations to be vice president of recovery and resiliency.
ValueOptions competed with three other for-profit companies: United Behavioral Health Inc., Magellan Health Services and a joint proposal from Presbyterian Health Plan of Albuquerque and APS Healthcare.
In the 1990s, ValueOptions ran managed care behavioral health programs for Presbyterian Health Plan.
